Feature Request List
#1
1st post?!

Thrilled to see a forum for this app! Best looking UI of any Android DAW!

I realize the app is being developed, don't want to ask for too much at once, but here are my feature requests:

-Time stretch preserving pitch based on tempos (enter previous and new tempo) Also, an automatic time stretch option when changing tempo of the song that already has tracks recorded. (all tracks changed to new tempo)
-Delay times also displayed as rhythmic values (ms option still available) This would make things a lot easier to keep delays sync'ed to the music
-Tempo change/time signature change markers
-Ability to apply effects to sound font instruments (n-track can do this)
-per channel "page" memory, meaning that if I go to the second "page" on a channel strip, to see the sends, etc, then when I go back to the mixer screen, all the channels are again just on the fader "pages". It doesn't remember which "page" I had the channel set to
-buffer sizes of 128 and 64 for USB audio (I know it may not work on many devices, but I'd like to try it, latency still a little bit high for me at 256)
-Effects presets (I know it's in the works already)
-Sidechaining, ability to send signal from one track to act as "Detector input" of compressor plugin on another track. Example: kick drum track sends signal to bass guitar compressor.
-Haas type stereo widening plugin.
-More of a request for ToneBoosters, high quality STEREO chorus (for stereo signals or to create stereo image from mono signal)
-Filter plugin with automatable cutoff frequency

It's a lot of requests, but with all of that I would be able to do a lot of work completely on Android. Great work on the app so far! I love using it!

Keep in mind this is a mobile as opposed to a full desktop DAW on a system that has far more power and RAM resources, than what we have here. Performance for many expanded features for AE here may vary from device to device, so far for me it runs smoothest on my old GNex phone.
I have a Nexus 9 shipping to me within a few days, and I will certainly be hooking up gear and see how AE functions with it, and will surely report here.
Fun times ahead for sure.

You know how I feel about that! Ha ha ha.

I feel most of this is doable. Time stretch is cpu intense but it doesn't have to be real time. Displaying delay time as rhythmic value (quarter note, dotted, triplet etc) Shouldn't be an issue. Tempo change, since there's no clock driven synthesis..may or may not be difficult. Effects presets, that's just a storage space thing.

Effects on top of sounfonts is working in another app, so that's proven to be doable. Buffer sizes down to 64 most certainly won't work on many devices but I'm fine with that. I'd like to be able to try it. I don't need the settings to be crippled just to be safe on all devices (this ain't apple). There's already a few settings that  don't work for me.

I think the tough part with all of this is dev time. It all takes time to get this coded and tested. But I'm always thinking about the future. LAZORZ.

Like you're saying it runs smoothest on an older phone...one of the peculiar things with AEM is the USB driver. It's what makes the latency so low and I applaud the devs at getting it to work instead of waiting for Android. But device compatibility varies. I found my devices had difficulties with the focusrite Scarlet even under hub power yet it works really well with a $7 Sabrent USB "dongle".

latency largely depends on hardware and the OS installed in it..... It's not so much in the dev's control for music apps as it is the device it is running on.
There are a few ongoing threads in the SCS forum discussing this subject, and Andreas, app dev of GSS explained the whole process in great detail; and I've learned even more about it after a lengthy chat with him a few weeks ago.

I imagine, from a developer's perspective, that you want to design your app to function on as many devices as possible, so with it comes some potential compromise..... one of the joy's of the mobile platform

Thanks for all suggestions. Note that time stretching is already available by long-tapping an audio clip -> Offline fx -> Time stretching.

Coolbeans, I'll be exploring these and the other new updates in great detail soon..... I will receive my Nexus 9 as soon as tomorrow, and will be setting it up for audio production (I don't do games, social media, or any other useless apps on my mobile gear)

I'll surely report my findings and test results, as I conduct them; very exciting

Hi, i want to save my custom effects presets too.

And other thing: please add the capability to play and record-monitoring-midi keyboard at same time with previously recorded midi channels playing on.
N-track Studio can do that.
Now if i want to record a new midi track, monitoring goes silent for midi keyboard, just old track sounds. :/

Thanks dwrae!

P.s.: how to copy and/or move automations?  Cool

Sorry for the incredibly late reply. I have done the following for testing:
* Import/create an instrument track, set to play drums through the Android speakers
* Create an instrument track and choose the default piano sound
* Press Arm on the 2nd track
* I can now play my USB keyboard and hear the piano sound
* Press play
* I can still hear the piano sound while playing and drums are playing as well
* Stop
* Press record
* I can still hear the piano sound while playing and drums are playing as well

Could you elaborate on what the difference is to your situation or did we meanwhile fix it (by accident Rolleyes )?

Yes, i think you've fixed it between releases. ;)

Now, can you add the possibility to load instruments independently? Now when you load some they all go to just one instrument audio channel then you can't fx process them separately.

And please don't forget the other requests! (fx custom presets and copying/moving automations.. and.... I'm adding another one :p : please if 48KHz can came preselected by default *this is the lowest latency possible not 44.1KHz and now I need to go select it every time I do a new job*)

Thanks! ?

I think you would be a perfect fit for beta testing our next version. Please contact us at info@audio-evolution.com for the beta test.
