Request for Hifi vs Master quality setting for Tidal
#1
I would like to have the option to select Hifi (cd quality flacs) for Tidal tracks which are available in Master (mqa).

Right now, if a track is available in Master quality it appears that USB AP always  streams the mqa file. There is no way to stream the CD quality flac. Please add an option to do so, as many believe that for 44khz16bit and no mqa dac CD quality flacs is better than mqa.

I prefer mqa only, how about an option to filter enabling, requiring, or disabling mqa?

That way i can listen to ONLY MQA, you can listen to NO MQA, and people who want to mix can choose enabled?

I think mqa is worth investing in, ive spent hundreds on it so far. Let's find a solution that works for everyone, if possible.

Don't get my wrong I also have some MQA gear, but cannot deny reality either.

You listen to tidal tracks on flac instead of mqa because you find it sounds better? Idk i find more distortion in the flac tracks than the mqa

At this point, a well encoded flac (i.e. not a folded mqa) is demonstrably better. This is not a matter of opinion or perception. Is like saying that 24bit is higher res than 16bit. You may not care or hear it, it just is.
However, I'm not arguing against mqa, I just want the liberty of not using it. It's lack of quality is just my reason for not wanting it.

It appears that Tidal has taken this issue into consideration. They are adding an "Hifi plus" tier. Apparently to differentiate between CD quality and MQA. I hope that USB Audio Player PRO will support this.
