Noise reduction & mastering - Starbourne - 05-20-2016

Hi,

I've just bought Audio Evolution for my tablet to get away from using Windows for my podcasting, on which I've been using Audacity.

My usual process for creating my podcastss to record the audio as a wave file, in sections, and then import them, and then the first thing I do is to reduce the noise (in Audacity get a profile then reduce noise for the clip), but I can't seem to find a specific noise reduction tool in Audio Evolution. Am I missing something?

When I've put my clips into the correct order, I then use a compressor in Audacity for mastering before exporting to SoundCloud. I'm not sure how to do this in Audio Evolution, but I'm hoping it's quite simple.

I love what the developers have done with Audio Evolution, and I'd love to use it as my only audio editor.

Thanks. We do not have a noise reduction system like in Audacity unfortunately. We do have two real-time noise gate insert effects: one basic free one and one more advanced (paid) from Toneboosters. We also have a compressor and limiter (Barricade) effect from ToneBoosters which will help with mastering.
Here is a link to our manual which shows how to get to the insert effects: http://www.audio-evolution.com/manual/doku.php?id=mixer_screen

Thanks, I didn't mention that I've already bought the first tonebooster effect plugin, but I have no idea how to use it. Even the TB website is light on tutorials. I did find one YouTube video from Prime Loops;

But it looks very different from ours, with ours obviously being more advanced. The problem is that I just don't understand what our gate does. Do you have any notes you could share, or perhaps write a simple introduction for me that would let me test it to remove background ambient noise on an existing wave file?

 If I can figure out how to use all the tools in AE, I would be happy to assist with writing the manual and doing a few YouTube tutorials. I have the tools to do screencasts and would be happy to help out.

Starbourne,

I totally agree with you that we are awfully short of video tutorials for such a great product. I purchased mine one year ago and it's frustrating that I have only just scratched the surface. Good luck if you get to shoots some DIY clips.

If love to do some videos, though it would be from the perspective of podcasting because that's my interest. I'm not a musician, sadly, so advanced techniques that rely on connecting midi and musical instruments would have to be done by sometime else :(

We can even pay you for video tutorials, but then we would need to structure it according to different topics. If you (or anybody else) are interested in this, please contact us privately at info@audio-evolution.com.
