Android Lollipop - Unable to Delete Items From Library

Stuck in an endless loop where UAPP requests storage access to the mounted external storage (user is prompted to do this when manually deleting album/track entries). File viewer opens to show external storage, fine. I select external storage's music folder, and it kicks me back to UAPP where nothing is changed. No error messages, just back to square one.

This method of giving storage access isn't even a thing on Android Lollipop. It's more of a newer Android thing, no?
