Bit-perfect mode

Hello,what is the right way to play the FLAC files : Bit-perfect on...off....or when possible?

I use the Toneboosters PEQ, so bit perfect is supposedly automatically disabled. I have found that the best sound is with bit perfect actually selected off. Not sure why, but I go by my ears.
