"Export MIDI file" doesn't work
#1
Hi,

since Audio Evolution does not work on my iPad Pro (12.9-inch) (3rd generation) MTFR2FD/A A1876, iPadOS 17.5.1, I finally tried to migrate a started project with the option "Export MIDI file". This option does not work for iFretless Bass [1]. I'm not surprised about this. While the "Repeat" option to "copy" iFretless Bass clips works, the "Copy" option does not copy iFretless Bass clips correctly [2].

I can probably transfer the iFretless bass track via MIDI IOs.

However, I won't even consider recording a MIDI track with my Roland GR-55 guitar synthesizer and using my Oberheim Matrix-1000 in guitar mode.

Regards,
Ralf

Export MIDI file is unrelated to which instrument you use. It just exports the MIDI data to a MIDI file. We suggest contacting support@audio-evolution.com directly.

Hi,

that is not correct. The polyphony of some plugins and some hardware synth doesn't work by playing several MIDI on events by one MIDI channel. It works by playing several note on events on different MIDI channels. Keep in mind a real guitar has got 6 strings, each string is monophonic, you need to play more than one string to get polyphony.

In the 80s other and I used to use to program MIDI software in Assembly all by our own, but nowadays coders are much likely using third party C libraries, hence a lot of pitfalls can be involved.

Since recorded and repeated MIDI clips are ok, but copied and exported MIDI is broken, something such as a simple inconsistent "running status" handling could cause issues.

I've not used a MIDI monitor to view the events, but the issue much likely is something similar as described.

I'll contact support@audio-evolution.com directly.

Regards,
Ralf
