2 root or not 2 root?

Wondering what the consensus is (if there is one) about rooting android devices? Are there any benefits to be obtained? I understand that rooting an android device does carry some risk which is why I ask the question ..

I mostly play .WAV files via UGREEN OTG to external DAC
Issues - Sometimes UAPP crashes on first start up 
            USB Host Check reports USB host is not enabled


UAPP - v5.0.3
Device - Samsung Tab A SM-T380; Android 7.1.1

There are no gains in rooting for UAPP if your DAC already works with it. If you can reproduce the crash on start-up, please let us know.
